Assessment
Emma is offering assessment in the following areas:
- Assessment for Developmental Co-Ordination Disorder (DCD, formerly known as Dyspraxia)
- Handwriting Assessments (and, if indicated, recommendations for Assistive Technology)
- Assessment regarding sensory processing
- Developmental assessments, where there are concerns about developmental delays
Experience
Emma has many years of experience working within Primary Care and Disability settings (including carrying out extensive assessment and intervention with children and teens with ASD and DCD), both in the public and private sectors.
Emma also has a wealth of experience in working with children with ADHD, sensory processing difficulties, as well as children with no diagnoses or sensory concerns who are struggling with anxiety and/or low mood and those who have experienced developmental trauma.
If further assessment and/or intervention is needed, or another service is simply more appropriate, this will be discussed with you.
Assessment Process
- Agreeing scope of assessment (eg. motor skills/DCD assessment, handwriting assessment if seeking assitive technology, sensory assessment or a combination of all), and whether school visit is required (please note this is not included as standard and an additional cost will apply if required), in discussion with parents as to their primary concerns
- Gathering information from home and school/preschool prior to direct assessment via parent form and school form, and any other measures as relevant to the concerns noted
- Direct assessment (up to 2 hours allowed for) followed by
- Feedback session (0.5 Hrs) and
- Report issued within 4 weeks with specific recommendations for home and school targeting areas for development/support and signposting any other assessments (if indicated, and if desired).
